Helen M. Vivolo of Mercer, formerly of Hermitage and Farrell, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, after an extended illness. She was 92.
Mrs. Vivolo was born Oct. 19, 1921, in West Middlesex, a daughter of Frank and Stella Maykowski Wlodarski.
She was a 1939 graduate of Farrell High School and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon.
In her younger years, she helped to operate her husband’s Isaly’s store and had worked at the former Packard Electric Corp. in Warren, Ohio.
Helen was a member of Polish National Alliance. She enjoyed painting china and belonged to the Pennsylvania Porcelain Painting Artist Club.
Her husband, Rocco Vivolo, whom she married Sept. 4, 1938, died Aug. 5, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene R. Gilliland and her husband William, Hermitage; a granddaughter, Mary Ann Young, Mercer; two great-grandchildren, Carrie and Matthew Young; and a sister, Frances Decheski, Arcadia, Fla.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Vivolo, who died in 1977; along with a sister and three brothers.
At her request, there will be no calling hours or services. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hermitage.
