Mrs. Erceg was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Farrell, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Liptak Grega.
She was a 1945 graduate of Farrell High School. Following graduation, she matriculated to Slippery Rock University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in education.
Margaret retired from Farrell Area School District after 31 years as a third- and fourth-grade teacher.
Mrs. Erceg was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Hermitage, where she served on the board, was active in Bible study and was a member of the Serbian Sisters.
Margaret was active in the Farrell area retired teachers association and various card clubs, with which she especially enjoyed playing 500; and was a donor to various charitable organizations.
Most important to her in life was faith and family, especially her grandchildren.
Her husband, Eli Erceg Sr., whom she married Aug. 2, 1953, passed away Oct. 14, 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Angela and her husband Nick Orras, New Wilmington; two sons, Eli Erceg Jr. and his wife Mary Jo, Hermitage; and Timothy Erceg, Palmetto, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Jon, Christina and Allison. Margaret is also survived by a cousin who was more like a sister, Tressa Wasilewski.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Margaret; and a brother, Joseph Grega.
The family would like to thank the nurses in the intensive care unit of Sharon Regional Health System for the exceptional care and kindness they showed to their mother.
