Carol I. McCullough

CareerLink worker taught, sang at Faith Presbyterian


---- — Carol I. McCullough of Mercer, formerly of Jefferson Township, passed away peacefully at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, after an extended illness. She was 74.

Miss McCullough was born Feb. 13, 1939, in Jefferson Township to William D. and Lyda E. Wilkison McCullough.

She attended and graduated from Mercer High School.

Carol worked as a receptionist at CareerLink, Sharon. 

As a lifelong member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage, she belonged to the Woman’s Association, the Christian Endeavor, sang on the choir, taught Sunday school and began the Youth Choir.

She belonged to the Jefferson Township Fair Board and the Civic League of Jefferson Township.

Carol is survived by two sisters, Ruth Rust, Hermitage; and Marian and her husband Colin Appleton, Naples, Fla.; a brother, William D. McCullough Jr. and his wife Bonnie, Sharpsville; five nieces, Barbara McWilliams, Lois Simons, Jean Roberts, Jess Thompson and Beth Carlson; and two nephews, Mark Hackett Sr. and Billy McCullough III.

She is also survived by numerous cousins and great-nieces and -nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, William D. McCullough; mother, Lyda E. McCullough; sister, Helen Hackett; stepbrother, Raymond Shaffer; and niece, Nancy Ashman.

Service: Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Friday (7-5-13) in Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage, with the Rev. Stephen K. Stelle, pastor, officiating.

Interment: Mount Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
