SLIPPERY ROCK -- John C. Duda of 1291 Slippery Rock Road, Slippery Rock, died Thursday morning (1-10-13) in his home. He was 88.
Mr. Duda was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Whitaker, Pa., to Stanley and Bertha Buczko Duda.
He was an alumnus of what was then Slippery Rock Normal School and retired from U.S. Steel in Homestead, Pa.
Mr. Duda served as a private in the Army Air Force from March 1943 to November 1945.
He was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City.
His wife, the former Marian R. Shuey, whom he married July 6, 1945, died April 17, 2010.
Surviving are: a daughter, Eileen M. Johnson and her husband Larry W.; and a son, Ronald L. Duda and his wife Linda, all Grove City; two grandchildren, Michael Duda, Grove City; and Kimberly Miller, Butler; a brother, Leon A. Duda, Grove City; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Steven; and two sisters, Helen Bitsura and Bernice Duda.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday (1-14-13) in Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township, with the Rev. Michael P. Allison, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
