Socci “Sam” L. Bucciarelli of Sharpsville, passed away at 4:08 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in his home after an extended illness. He was 88.
Mr. Bucciarelli was born July 10, 1925, in Sharpsville to Soccio and Domenica Teberia Bucciarelli.
He graduated from Sharpsville High School.
Socci worked for McCracken Floors as an installer, Rakoci Monuments and as a foreman for 30 years for the former Sharpsville Steel Fabricator until his retirement.
On July 19, 1952, he married the former Beverly June Livingston, who passed away Feb. 4, 2010.
Mr. Bucciarelli served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received several medals, including the Bronze Star.
Sam was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church in Sharpsville. He was a founding member of the Sharpsville Boosters and belonged to American Legion Post 162 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404, both Sharpsville; the Italian Home; and several bowling leagues.
Sam enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and golfing. He was an excellent carpenter, an avid Sharpsville football fan and liked college and professional football as well.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Socci is survived by: two daughters, Carol R. and her husband Thomas Novelli, Sharpsville; and Kathryn A. and her husband Joseph “Marty” Fortuna, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Jason Novelli and his fiancée Ami Fischer, Johnathan Novelli, Justin Fortuna, Joseph Fortuna and his wife Jessica, and Jordan Fortuna; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Novelli, Julianna Novelli and Samuel Fortuna.
Also surviving are several brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Beverly June Bucciarelli, he was preceded in death by his father, Soccio Bucciarelli; his mother, Domenica Bucciarelli; a sister, Mary Erme; and three brothers, Salvatore Bucciarelli, Peter Bucciarelli and Dominic Bucciarelli.

Service: Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday (4-5-14) in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Sharpsville, with the Rev. Matthew Strickenberger, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex, with full military honors observed by the Wheatland and West Middlesex Honor Guard.
