Damascus-Bishop retiree enjoyed family camping

Norman E. Mowry Jr., of White-Cliff Nursing Home, formerly of 320 Methodist Rd., Hempfield Township, passed away at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday (3-27-13) in the hospital of UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 84.

He was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Greenville, to Norman E. Mowry Sr. and Vanchi Baer Mowry. He was a graduate of Penn High School.

He was employed for more than 30 years as an inspector at the former Damascus-Bishop Tube Co., in Reynolds.

He was a member of Jerusalem Christian Church, Greenville He was also a member of Greenville Family Moose Center #276 and his hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing and camping with his family.

He married Mona Zuschlag on Mar. 19, 1950 and she passed away on Jan. 19, 2013.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis Mowry and his wife, Sandi, of Greenville, Raymond Dean Mowry and his wife, Pam, of Fort Worth, Texas,  and David B. Mowry and his wife, Rose, of Greenville; a sister Vivian Thompson and her husband, Ken, of Greenville; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; also a sister-in-law, Karen Mowry of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Barbara Kershner and a brother, Duff Mowry, a step-grandson, Richard Brazel and a step-great-granddaughter, Cheyanne Dollins.
