Gregory ‘Greg’ Scott Bechtel Sr.

Mercer man worked at Sharon Chrysler-Plymouth


---- — Gregory “Greg” Scott Bechtel Sr. of Mercer passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at 2:14 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in the care of Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 49.

Mr. Bechtel was born Dec. 21, 1963, in Sharon, a son of Raymond Bechtel and Norah Prowitt-Bechtel.

Greg had formerly been employed at Sharon Chrysler-Plymouth.

He always had a love for drag racing and detailing cars. He loved to go fishing and camping and enjoyed taking trips with his family.

Greg loved being able to spend time with friends and family.

He is survived by: Kelly Bechtel, Hermitage, to whom he was previously married; his sons, Kurtis Matthew Bechtel, Sharon; and Gregory Scott Bechtel Jr. and his wife Kimberly, Hermitage; and his brothers and sisters, Allen Bechtel, Navarre, Fla.; Todd and his wife Tammy Bechtel, Sharon; Ruth and her husband Steve Kurelko; and Charlotte Bechtel, all Mercer; Regina and her husband Jack Charles, Greenville; and Raymond and his wife Theresa Bechtel, Sharpsville.

He also leaves behind two grandsons, Kurtis Bechtel Jr. and Noah Bechtel; as well as many nephews, nieces and loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Myrna Horos-Bechtel; his parents, Raymond Bechtel and Norah Prowitt-Bechtel; and a cousin, Chad Fager, all Sharon.

With respect to Greg Sr.’s wishes, there will not be calling hours. A gathering will be held in his memory from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in Jefferson Township Municipal Building, 7407 Lamor Road, Mercer PA, 16137, for anyone who wishes to pay their respects to the family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made by mail to his son, Gregory Scott Bechtel Jr., 265 Coolidge Drive, Hermitage PA 16148, to go toward funeral expenses and a memorial fund.
