Margaret “Marge” S. Guthrie of Hermitage passed away at 6:26 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in UPMC Passavant, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness. She was 67.
Mrs. Guthrie was born Jan. 8, 1946, in Cincinnati to Roland and Helen Robinson Henry.
She was a 1964 alumna of New Castle High School, then graduated in 1966 from Jameson School of Nursing, New Castle.
Mrs. Guthrie retired from UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after 25 years as a registered nurse.
Marge was involved as a camp nurse with the “Fun In The Sun” summer camp for multi-handicapped children and also was an escort for the “Children With Special Needs” program, traveling to Disney World, Boston, New York, Chicago and many other locations.
Marge received awards at art shows for her cross-stitch work and enjoyed making and giving away afghans.
Her favorite vacation spot was Lucky Strike Camp in Ontario, Canada, where she enjoyed fishing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Franklin Guthrie, whom she married May 29, 1970, survives at home.
She also leaves two sons, Ken Guthrie and his wife Tammy, Sharon; and Brian Guthrie and his wife Bekki, Sharpsville; a brother, William Henry and his wife Sherron, New Castle; her grandchildren, Samantha, Cory, Ian and Marek; and a niece, Megan Henry, Concord, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
