Margaret “Peggy” A. Bender, a resident of Clepper Manor for more than two years and formerly of West Middlesex, passed away at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday (9-24-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 76.
Mrs. Bender was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Connellsville, Pa., a daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothema Hall Cutter.
She was a 1955 graduate of Union High School in Lawrence County and, following her graduation, was an operator for Ohio Bell.
After raising her children, Peggy was employed by Ivor J. Lee Manufacturing in Masury and later in the communication department at Jameson Hospital, New Castle, retiring in 2004.
A homemaker, she was a member of The Presbyterian Church of West Middlesex.
She was a member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Farrell Chapter 156, and served as a Girl Scout leader.
Peggy enjoyed porcelain painting, baking, cooking, knitting and gardening.
She cherished the time spent with her family and loved when her grandchildren visited.
She was also a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Surviving are: two daughters, Susan Chupak and her husband Tom, and Patti Ginther and her husband Jim; a son, David Bender and his wife Jean, all West Middlesex; and six grandchildren, David and Jared Chupak; Sydney and Michael Ginther; and Noah and Joshua Bender.
She also leaves a sister-in-law, Joanne Cutter, Hubbard, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, Robert and Richard Cutter.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Keystone Blind Association, 1230 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
