Chandra N. Benninghoff Kodali

2000 Reynolds grad, retail worker was Steelers fan

---- — A funeral service will be held Monday for Chandra N. Benninghoff Kodali of Fredonia. She passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2013, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was 32.

Ms. Kodali was born May 25, 1981, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of Jeffrey G. Benninghoff and Sharon Lee Olenik Benninghoff.

A 2000 graduate of Reynolds High School, she attended Mercer County Vo-Tech her senior year where she studied cosmetology and, later, the Pittsburgh Technical Institute, where she studied computer programming for a year and a half.

Chandra was employed as an assistant manager and sales associate at Kirkland’s and the Steelers Store at Grove City Premium Outlets, both Grove City. She previously worked as a cook at Bon Appétit at Grove City College, where she was known as “the burrito lady.”

Chandra attended Fredonia Presbyterian Church, where she taught summer Bible school. She was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Fredonia; and American Legion Post 919, Fairview Township.

Surviving are: her mother, Sharon Benninghoff and her companion Thomas Wilson; her father, Jeffrey Benninghoff and his companion Sabrina Dailey; and a brother, Jeffrey “Jason” Benninghoff, all Fredonia. She also leaves her grandparents, George “Alton” and JoEllen Benninghoff, also Fredonia; Ronald Olenik, Salem; and Aletha Olenik, Canfield, Ohio.

Chandra was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Edith Patterson, George Beal, George and Gwen Benninghoff,  Frank and Helen Olenik, and Howard and Irene Ramm.

Chandra consistently expressed her love through her quick witted and extraordinary sense of humor. She was a true “country bumpkin” with beautiful blue eyes and an infectious smile. Her nature was very pure and nurturing, always seeking out and sticking up for the underdog and less fortunate.

Chandra was always so full of life with a magical voice. She enjoyed singing with her family and especially cherished singing duets with her brother, Jason.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan as well as a true animal lover. Her dog, Bettis, was an integral part of her life.

We were all truly blessed to have shared in Chandra’s life. She loved, was loved, and will always be in our hearts and thoughts, bringing us smiles with her memory.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. Please continue to pray for Chandra and her brother Jason, who was also critically injured in the accident.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 3208 B Wilmington Road, Box 5037, New Castle, PA 16105.
