James Edwin Osborne

Steel Car, park employee was on Jamestown council

---- — James Edwin Osborne, 301 Washington St., Jamestown, died at 2:25 a.m. Saturday (10-5-13) at home. He was 74.

He was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Transfer to James Leslie and Irene Dorthea (Young) Osborne.

On March 1, 1962, he married Patricia Ann Campbell. She survives.

He was a 1952 graduate of the former Pymatuning Joint High School, Jamestown.

He was an Army veteran and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Early in his working career, he worked at the former Blazon Corp. in Jamestown.

For 23 years he worked as a punch operator at the former Greenville Steel Car Co.

He went on to work at Pymatuning State Park for 16 years.

He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.

He was very family-oriented, having enjoyed participating in the events and activities of his children and grandchildren.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, reloading weapons and competition silouhette handgun shooting.

He also enjoyed listening to country music, watching birds, and his dog, Bruiser.

He was a Cleveland sports fan, rooting on the Browns and Indians.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and White Oaks Shooting Club, Greenville. He served five years on Jamestown borough council, and was a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Christine Osborne and her fiancée Owen Scott, Mrs. John (Rebecca) Osborne-Demmler and Mrs. Tom (Rhonda) Pipp, all  Jamestown; Leslie Eynon, Greenville; and Mrs. Fred (Brenda) Schafer, Allison Park; 10 grandchildren, James Schafer, Callie Schafer, Samantha Schafer, Earvin Hereford, Jessica Hereford, Nicholas Eynon, Cody Eynon, Tom Pipp III, Josh Pipp and Justin Pipp; six great-grandsons, John Duignan, Dustin Pipp, Gage Pipp, John Pipp, Christian Pipp and Aiden Pipp; and three nieces, Mary Marion, Mrs. Rich (Gwendolyn “Wendy”) Bulger, and Mrs. Chris (Diane) Mentch.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Jackson; and a great-granddaughter, Jocylyn Duignan.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (10-8-13) in RANDALL FUNERAL HOME, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday (10-9-13) in the funeral home with Todd Miller, pastor of Harvest Baptist Church; and Jeff Harter, pastor of Family Home Hospice, officiating.

Burial: Stevenson Cemetery, Salem Township.
