Phyllis Marie Hill

Retired teacher was active with Wilmington alumni


- — Phyllis Marie Hill of South Park Street, New Wilmington, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 21, 2013, in Silver Oaks Nursing Center, New Castle. She was 87.

Miss Hill was born July 7, 1926, in Grove City to James Troy Hill and Mary Ella Clulow Hill.

She was an alumna of Wilmington High School and Grove City College.

Miss Hill retired from Corry School District, where she taught English and Spanish.

She was a member of New Wilmington Presbyterian Church and was an avid worker with the Wilmington Alumni Association.

Phyllis traveled extensively throughout her life; she enjoyed her computer and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving are several cousins.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janet Hill.

Calling hours: Noon to time of service Thursday (10-24-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.

Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Hawkins, pastor of New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment: Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington.
