Vietnam vet served in Honor Guard at Arlington


MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio — Donald E. Carl of Mineral Ridge passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, in Mineral Ridge. He was 64.

Mr. Carl was born April 11, 1949, in Allentown, Pa., to Edward and Marie Radu Carl.

Donald was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam conflict. Donald was in the Honor Guard at Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery where he honored his fellow brothers by serving at military funerals. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3538, Struthers, Ohio, and American Legion Post 699, Leavittsburg, Ohio.

Donald is survived by: his former wife and caregiver, Patricia Carl; daughter, Melissa Clawson and her husband Darren, Brookfield; stepdaughter, Angelique Wilson, Champion, Ohio; stepson, Jason Wilson and his wife Tiana, Braceville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and sisters, Elaine and her husband David Allegar, Brookfield; and Janet and her husband Ed Bednar, Sharpsville.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
