Janet Lee Keller

Park naturalist belonged to Good Shepherd church


- — Janet Lee Keller, Orchard Road, Mercer, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (11-9-13) in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 53.

Mrs. Keller was born Dec. 12, 1959, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Elmer L. and Catherine P. Harvan Miller.

She married Paul Joseph Keller on June 18, 1988.

Janet was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in West Middlesex.

A graduate of Shaler High School, class of 1978, she also graduated from Penn State University with a degree in horticulture.

Mrs. Keller was employed for more than 20 years as a park naturalist with the Pennsylvania State Parks division of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. She worked at McConnell’s Mill and Goddard State parks. She was also a Friend of Goddard State Park.

Janet also prepared applications for Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) programs for the state Department of Public Welfare.

Janet is survived by: her husband, at home; two sons, Adam P. Keller and Jacob P. Keller, both at home; her mother, Cathy P. Miller,                                   Uniontown; three brothers, David Miller and his wife Billie, Troy, S.C.; Ronald Keller and his wife Krissi, Kapaa, Hawaii; and Richard Miller, Uniontown; and her favorite aunt, Mary Orr, Cleveland.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Calling hours: 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (11-12-13) in Smith Funeral Home, 3126 Main St. West Middlesex.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday (11-13-13) in Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Rd, West Middlesex, with Monsignor Robert M. Malene, pastor, officiating.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
