Esther Margaret Weiser Hart

Kiwanis food server was active with extension, 4-H


- — Esther Margaret Weiser Hart of West Middlesex Borough passed away about 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, in the home of her daughter on Mercer Road, Hempfield Township. She was 91.

Mrs. Hart was born Feb. 1, 1922, to Charles Silas Weiser and Alma Ellen Hoffman Weiser.

During World War II, she worked at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Esther was a homemaker and was active as a community volunteer. She worked as a food server for West Middlesex Kiwanis meeting dinners for more than 50 years.

She was a member of West Middlesex Presbyterian Church; was active with Mercer County Extension Office and 4-H; and was an avid quilter.

Her husband, Charles Lewis Hart, whom she married Dec. 24, 1944, preceded her in death April 28, 1996.

Survivors include: two daughters, Ruth A. Gruber, Greenville; and Jane M. Seeley, Salem, Ohio; a son, David W. Hart, St. Cloud, Fla.; two sisters, Martha Wall, El Cajon, Calif.; and Ruth Mitchell, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harold Lewis Hart; and two brothers, Harold and Charles Weiser.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (11-14-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: Funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday (11-15-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Jason Hickman, pastor of West Middlesex Presbyterian Church, presiding.

Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
