Daniel V. Rucker

U.S. Can worker served Mount Olive Baptist

- — A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Daniel V. Rucker will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Brown as eulogist.

On May 28, 2014, Mr. Rucker departed this life at 6:15 p.m. in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Rucker was born June 17, 1952, in Mercer, a son of Wilbur and Martha Phillips Rucker. He was a graduate of Farrell High School and he attended what is now Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

He was formerly employed as a machine operator with U.S. Can Corp. in Hubbard.

Mr. Rucker was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where he served on the trustee board, pastor’s aide, choir and male chorus. He often dedicated his time to maintaining the church grounds and food pantry.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, the former Barbara Bruce whom he married in 2003; his children, Danny (Gail) Rucker Jr. of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Janiel (Byron) Miles of Fayetteville, Ga.; Lena “Joanne” Rucker of Douglasville, Ga.;  Minister Elmer Lowe of Philadelphia; Cynthia Romane Wolfe of Tamarac, Fla.; Noelle Peirce of Erie; and Shonta “Javin” Houston of Hermitage; his siblings, Rev. Wilbur “David” (Cheryl) Rucker of Mesquite, Texas; Daryle S. (Judy) Rucker and Joseph L. Rucker of Philadelphia; Donzella Caldwell of Toledo, Ohio; Hope “April” Rucker of Philadelphia; Anna Bagnall of Farrell; and Gloria (Ken) Legg of Tallahassee, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, William and Robin Bagnall.
