Carmen P. Scibetta

Werner retiree formerly had beer distributorship

- — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Carmen P. Scibetta of 68 N. Wood St., West Salem Township. He passed away unexpectedly at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 80.

Mr. Scibetta was born May 16, 1934, in Greenville to Salvatore “Sam” and Giovannia “Jenny” Surano Scibetta.

He was a 1953 graduate of the former St. Michael High School, Greenville.

Mr. Scibetta was the owner and operator of Scibetta Beer Distributing on Canal Street in Greenville until 1970, then retired from R.D. Werner Co., Sugar Grove Township, in 1999.

Carmen proudly served our country in the Army from 1957-59 and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds.

He belonged to St. Michael’s Church, Greenville, and was a member and past secretary of the Italian Home Club, Greenville.

Carmen’s favorite place to spend time was at his hunting camp in Tionesta, Pa., where he truly enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially on his spit. Carmen loved life; his passions were hunting, fishing, planting his garden and listening to polkas in his garage. He had a peaceful appreciation of watching clouds during the day and star gazing at night. His favorite pastime was telling countless stories to family and friends (anyone who would listen).

He married the love of his life, Judith K. Skarosi, on July 19, 1969; she survives at home.

In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by a son, Joseph S. Scibetta; and a daughter, Joanna L. Faber and her husband Robert P., all Greenville; two grandsons whom he adored, Luke and Sam Faber; a loving mother-in-law, Julie Skarosi, who resided with Carmen and Judy; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Scibetta, Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, an infant, as well as Josephine Calenda and Rose Cirrincione; and two brothers, an infant, and Phillip J. Scibetta.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael School Endowment Fund, 85 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125.
