Katherine D. Yankevich of 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, formerly of 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after a brief illness. She was 82.
Mrs. Yankevich was born Oct. 3, 1931, in Croyle, Pa., to Lawrence T. and Hilda M. Kelly Bordell.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Adalbert’s Church in Farrell.
Katherine enjoyed doing crafts, playing bingo and baking.
Her husband, Leo Yankevich, whom she married in November 1954, passed away Jan. 11, 2001.
Surviving are: her daughters, Debbie Bordell, Farrell; Roseann Hogg and her husband Jesse, Hermitage; and Kathy Bialk and her husband Mirek, Wayne, W.Va.; a son, Leo J. Yankevich and his wife Kasia, Krakow, Poland; a sister, Ruth Baker, Brookfield; and 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren..
Besides her husband, Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alex Yankevich; five sisters, Mary McKurdy, Irene Munnel, Jenny Fink, Annabelle Leslie and Shirley Novello; two brothers, Lawrence and George Bordell; and a grandchild.

Service: Funeral service at 5 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Thomas E. Morgan, pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, and the Rev. Charles Skinner, retired priest in residence at John XXIII Home, both Hermitage, co-officiating.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
