Ralph K. Ferguson

Ex-Py Township man was CB&I headquarters retiree

- — POLAND, Ohio – A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday for Ralph K. Ferguson of Youngstown, formerly of Moss Lane, Pymatuning Township. He passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday (1-21-14) in Hospice House, Poland. He was 83.

Mr. Ferguson was born June 24, 1930, in Greenville to Kyle and Ethel Groover Ferguson.

He was a 1948 graduate of the former Penn High School, Greenville; and a 1952 alumnus of what was then Carnegie Tech, Pittsburgh, with a bachelor of arts degree in mechanical engineering.

From 1952 to 1987, Mr. Ferguson was employed by Chicago Bridge and Iron Co.’s former Hempfield Township plant and retired from CB&I’s Oak Brook, Ill., headquarters as a quality assurance supervisor.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Greenville, and enjoyed golfing, woodworking and traveling.

From 1953 to 1955, Mr. Ferguson was an Army first lieutenant with the Combat Engineering Battalion, stationed in Korea.

His wife, the former Joan E. Paharik, whom he married Nov. 5, 1955, passed away May 26, 2004.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Wallace and her husband Forrest, Naples, Fla.; and five sons, Stephen Ferguson and his wife Joan, Raleigh, N.C.; Alan Ferguson and his wife Pamela, Cumming, Ga.; James Ferguson and his wife Kathy, Shelby Township, Mich.; Robert Ferguson and his wife Kimberly, York, Pa.; and Thomas Ferguson and his wife Diane, Canfield, Ohio; two brothers, Clair Ferguson and his wife Naomi; and Earl Ferguson, all Greenville; and 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s School Endowment Fund, 85 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125.
