Randy Bress

Anesthesiologist was active in Jewish community

— Randy Bress, Sharpsville, passed away at 5:27 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in his home after a sudden illness. He was 58.

Mr. Bress was born May 17, 1955, in Havre de Grace, Md., to his parents, Jerrold and Roberta Simons Bress.

He graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1973 and continued his education at the University of Maryland, earning certification as a nurse anesthetist in 1981 from Shadyside School of Nursing Anesthesia.

On Oct. 14, 1984, he married his wife, Heather Rust Bress, who survives at home.

Mr. Bress worked hard in field of anesthesia having been employed at several hospitals and currently serving as vice chief of anesthesia at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio. He also spent much of his time mentoring students in the field of anesthesia.

Mr. Bress was strong in his faith and a pillar of the Jewish community. He was a member and past president of the former Temple Beth Israel synagogue in Sharon, where he taught religious school for many years. He was a current member of the Congregation Rodef Sholom, Youngstown.

He enjoyed traveling to new places or to see family and friends and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

Besides his wife, Heather, at home, Mr. Bress is survived by: three sons, Zachary Bress, Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan; and David Bress and Eli Bress, both Sharpsville; two brothers, Barry Bress and his wife Theresa; and Kevin Bress and his wife Lisa, both Baltimore, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018.
