Marjorie Greer North of The Villas at St. Paul’s, 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of Fredonia, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in The Villas, where she had been residing. She was 80.
Mrs. North was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Bradford, Pa., a daughter of Alton C. and Sylvia Greer Ogden.
Following her graduation, she relocated to Washington, D.C., and began working as a file clerk for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
She subsequently returned home and married her best friend, Condit T. North, on Sept. 19, 1953. He survives.
Marjorie was a stay-at-home mother, raising her two daughters into adulthood. She enjoyed being able to actively participate in Girl Scouts, Sunday school, Bible school and other youth activities of her daughters.
She then went on to be employed at First National Bank of Greenville, retiring in 1989. She actively assisted her husband with his responsibilities as local tax collector for Fredonia borough and with his insurance business.
Marjorie is remembered by her family as being an outstanding cook and baker who always enjoyed being able to entertain and fellowship around a full table with family and friends. She treasured being able to attend the annual Odgen reunion each year at Parker Dam.
In her younger years, days at the lake were filled with swimming and waterskiing. She always enjoyed the company of her dogs, but the moments she cherished most were the times she shared with three red-headed grandsons.
She was an active member of Fredonia Presbyterian Church and had participated through the years in a local card club with many Fredonia ladies.
In addition to her husband of 60 years, who resides at The Heritage at St. Paul’s are: two daughters, Diane Weller and her Paul, Transfer; and Kathleen “Kate” Subasic and her husband George, Fredonia; a brother, Allen C. “Peter” Ogden, Erie; three grandchildren, Matthew Weller and his wife Laurie, Jamestown, N.Y.; Christopher Weller, Transfer; and Steven Subasic, Dallas, Texas; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Julie Hopper and her husband Dan, Mercer; Janet North, Mercer; Eldora North, Tucson, Ariz.; and John North and his wife Jean, Irving, Texas.
