Former Sharon resident was skilled craftswoman

- — LITITZ, Pa. – Elizabeth Berkon Guthrie, formerly of Sharon and Chicago Heights, Ill., passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, in Moravian Manor, Lititz. She was 89.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Arthur Guthrie; and devoted mother of Gale, wife of Thomas Whitworth, Lancaster Pa.; Sandra, wife of David Beal, Efland, N.C.; and Warren Guthrie, husband of Laurie, West Olive, Mich. She was the very proud grandmother of 10, great-grandmother of two and dear sister of Mary Kweider, Erie.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, George Berkon and Anna Borcoman Berkon; and six siblings.

Elizabeth will be remembered as a skilled craftswoman and hand-quilter who loved to cook for her family.

The Guthries maintained a longtime membership in Flossmoor (Ill.) Community Church, where they gained and gave much love and devotion.
