Notre Dame, St. Joe’s member played cards, golf


WASHINGTON, Pa. — Mariellen Riddle, formerly of Hermitage, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday (3-21-13) in Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington, Pa., after a year and a half illness. She was 86.

She was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Frank and Clara Knapp Wilds.  

Mrs. Riddle was employed as a secretary for Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, for many years.  

She was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and St. Joseph Church, Sharon. She was also a Sunday school teacher at both churches.   

She was a member of the Shenanago Valley Bridge Club, the Mercer Women’s Golf League, the Hermitage Woman’s Club Marathon and the Wednesday Bridge Group.  

Mrs. Riddle enjoyed playing cards, golf and cross-stiching.

Her husband Donald Riddle died in March 2001.  

Surviving are: a son, James D. Riddle and his wife Diane, Hermitage; two daughters, Nancy L. Weaver and her husband Wayne, Washington, Pa.; and Karen S. Barno and her husband Dennis, Tempe, Ariz.; and a sister, Joan and her husband Don Yoest, Sharon.

She is also survived by: grandchildren, Tammie M. Riddle-Elsy and her husband Brian, Phoenix; Tara M. Riddle-Thompson and her husband Bill, Hermitage; Chad W. and his wife Jessica Weaver and Jarrod Weaver, all Washington; and Allex L. Barno, Tempe; great-grandchildren. Emma G. and Corinne R. Elsey, Reese E. and Libby M. Thompson and Noah M. Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Wilds and Robert Wilds; and sisters, Dolores Sincich and Rita Steen.
