Ronald Lane Boyd

United Methodist member had owned steel company


---- — Ronald Lane Boyd of Hermitage died at 8:45 a.m. Friday (4-12-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System He was 85.

Mr. Boyd was born April 3, 1928, in Donora, the son of Frederick and Lillian Young Boyd.

Ronald graduated from Rostraver High School, Donora, in 1946. He furthered his education by achieving a degree in mining engineering from the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering.

He began his career with U.S. Steel, Pittsburgh, as an engineer and then later bought his own business Lane Steel, McKees Rocks. He retired in 2003.

He served in the Navy during Korea War from February 1951 to December 1953.

He attended Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage.

He was a member of the Donora Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Kiwanis Club of Donora. Ronald enjoyed playing golf and was an avid reader.

Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Mary Jane (Fisher) Boyd, at home; two daughters: Linda Boyd of Coraopolis and Laurie Anne Coulter of Streetsboro, Ohio; a son, R. Lane Boyd of Oklahoma; a brother, Warren L. Boyd and his wife, Shirley, of Erie; two grandchildren, Leanne and Danielle Coulter; and a great-grandchild, Alexis Fonseca.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
