Mildred V. Adams

Nurse’s aide, homemaker had lived in Jackson Center

---- — At 9:55 p.m. Thursday (4-18-13), the angels came and escorted Mildred V. Adams of Sharon, formerly of Jackson Center, home to be with Jesus. She passed away in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after a brief illness. She was 78.

Born Feb. 16, 1935, in Findley Township, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of Floyd D. and Ruth A. Vogus Weaver.

She attended the Jackson Center one-room schoolhouse.

Mrs. Adams worked as a nurse’s aide for many years, beginning at the former Grove City Hospital and Mercer County Home and then retired from Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township.

Most of all, she was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Beth Emmanuel Fellowship Church, Sharon.

Mildred loved to read and enjoyed growing flowers. She especially enjoyed listening to Christian music.

She married Fred A. Adams Sr. on March 21, 1953, in Winchester, Va. He survives at home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Ruth M. Dailey and her husband the Rev. Edward L. Dailey, Sharpsville; and Tammy S. Fisher and her husband Ron, Jackson Center; three sons, Fred A. Adams Jr. and his companion Carrie McClave, Stoneboro; Jeffrey H. Adams and his wife Lorraine, Hubbard; and Scott G. Adams, Hadley; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; two sisters, Gladys Haag and her husband Nathan, Rockland, Venango County; and Carol Liszka and her husband John, Fredonia; four brothers, Sam Weaver and his wife Loretta, Sandy Lake; Bob Weaver and his wife Frances, Stoneboro; Dale Weaver and his wife Rosemary, Slippery Rock; and Gary Weaver and his wife Bethel, Mercer; and a sister-in-law, Judy Weaver, Mercer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Adams; four sisters, Betty Thompson, Norma Snyder, Clara Jane Weaver and Nancy Mae Weaver; and a brother, Ralph Weaver.

Calling hours: 4 to 6 p.m. Monday (4-22-13) in SCOTT A. BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Service: Funeral services at 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with the decedent’s son-in-law, the Rev. Edward L. Dailey, pastor of Beth Emmanuel Fellowship Church, Sharon, officiating. In addition, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (4-23-13) in Beth Emmanuel Fellowship Church, 866 Plum Street, with Rev. Dailey officiating.
