Naomi C. Miller

Transfer beauty shop owner taught bowling

---- — Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Naomi C. Miller of Railroad Street, Transfer. She passed away at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township, of natural causes. She was 89.

Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Peter H. and Gladys M. Wright Williams.

Mrs. Miller was an alumna of Sharpsville High School and graduated from a beauty school for cosmetology in Sharon.

She was the owner for 40 years of Naomi’s Beauty Shop in Transfer.

Mrs. Miller was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Transfer Volunteer Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary. She taught bowling to area youth through American Junior Bowling Congress (AJBC).

She enjoyed bowling, sewing and cooking.

Her husband, Joseph L. Miller, whom she married April 29, 1940, passed away June 5, 2004.

Surviving are: four sons, Joseph C. Miller; and Arthur K. Miller and his companion Linda, all Greenville; Jeffrey P. Miller Sr. and his wife Linda, Transfer; and Alan D. Miller, Greenville; and her grandchildren, Kathleen Watterson, Barbara Kremm, Jeffrey P. Miller Jr., Jon T. Miller, Justin Hagerty, Tonya Miller, Alan Miller, Gary L. Miller, Brian K. Miller, Karen Jones, Michael Slater, Cindy Astor, Jeffrey Slater and Debbie Steindurf.

She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Brandy Watterson, Abagail Kremm, Allison Kremm, Faith Miller, Alyssa Miller, Aiden Miller, Chloe Hagerty, Julie Sirianni, Jodi Klamer, Kelly Bullock, Michelle Slater, Michael Slater, Monica Slater, Jeffrey Slater, Allison Astor, Daniel Astor, Olivia Astor, Shannon Miller, Brian Miller, Robin Miller, Shane Miller, Lauren Miller and Cory Steindurf.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin L. Miller; a sister, Nora Moore; and  brothers, Charles and Arthur Williams.

Service: Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday (8-10-11) in the funeral home.

Interment: Transfer Cemetery.
