Anna Hallas

Good Shepherd church member was homemaker


- — A funeral service will be held Friday for Anna Hallas of Hermitage. She passed away at 11:27 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, in her home. She was 91.

Mrs. Hallas was born May 20, 1922, in Warren, Ohio, to Lazo and Mary Malac Drljaca.

Anna graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1940.

She was a homemaker and in her younger years worked for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. in the coil department.

Anna was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.

She loved gardening, growing flowers, crocheting and going for drives. She loved her dog, Toby.

Her husband, Frank M. Hallas, whom she married Sept. 25, 1948, passed away Oct. 3, 2004.    

Surviving are: a daughter, Juliana Kurilla and her husband John M., Hermitage; two sons, Michael Hallas, Tidioute, Pa.; and Stephen Hallas Sr. and his wife Candy, Shenango Township; and grandchildren, Carly Divido and her husband Tom; and Chance Hallas and his wife Daniella, all Tionesta; Craig Tice and his wife Diane, West Middlesex; Kyle Tice and his wife Joyce, Erie; Nicole Hardisky and her husband Bob, Lackawannock Township; Stephen Hallas Jr. and his wife Nikki, Hermitage; and Kristen Nickel and her husband Jesse, Lackawannock Township.

She also leaves 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Bob Drljaca, Sharpsville; Linda Stefanac, Hermitage; Cathy Lutza, Youngstown; Elizabeth Kubacko, Charlotte, N.C.; and Sandi Anderson, Orlando, Fla.          

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Carly; and a brother, John Drljaca.
