Paul F. Campoli

Sharpsville man served church, Scouts

- — Paul F. Campoli of Sharpsville passed away at 11:54 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, in the Meadville Medical Center after an extended illness. He was 83.

 Mr. Campoli was born June 19, 1930 in Sharon, a son of Humbert and Alice Fedele Campoli.  He was a lifelong resident of Sharpsville and attended Sharpsville High School. Paul was employed by the former Shenango Steel, Masury, for more than 35 years.  He then worked as a custodian for the Sharpsville Area School District, retiring in 1995.

 Paul was an active life member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, where he belonged to its Holy Name Society and served as head usher.  For a number of years, he and his wife opened the church each morning.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 684, Sharon. Years earlier, Paul was active with the Boy Scouts of America where he was a scout leader and den master.  He also served as manager/head coach for the Burger King Braves in Sharpsville Little League for many years.

 Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, the former Carmella Scibelli, whom he married Oct. 4, 1952, in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, which was officiated by the late Monsignor Geno Monti; four children, Gloria Fragle; and James Campoli and his wife Roberta, all Hermitage; Paul Campoli and his fiancé Heather Mahan, Sharpsville; and Alice Mattocks, C.P.A., also Hermitage; and five grandchildren, James Campoli, Matthew Fragle, Nicole Campoli, Amanda Rihel and her husband Dean; and Rachel Campoli.  He also leaves a brother-in-law, Ira Hall, W. Palm Beach, Fla; an aunt, Ann Piccirilli, Sharpsville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Louise Hall; and a brother, Humbert Campoli, Jr.  Paul will be remembered by many as a kind and giving man who enjoyed helping others. He loved his church, family and community.

Interment: Westside Cemetery, South Pymatuning Township.
