William James “Butch” Stanton, formerly Titusville, and Weeki Wachee, Fla., passed away at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. He was 77.
Mr. Stanton was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Sharon, a son of Edward and Althea Atkinson Stanton.
He was a 1955 graduate of Farrell High School.
Butch retired from the former Sawhill Tubular Products, Wheatland, where he worked for many years as a pipefitter.
As an outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed card playing, particularly euchre, and participating in many softball leagues in Wheatland.
He is survived by four daughters, Cindy Lee Scalise and her husband Sam, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; Stacey A. Squatrito and her husband Louis, Hermitage; Lu Ann McCrumb and her husband Richard, New Castle; and Michele L. Zelinski, Medina, Ohio; a son, William T. Stanton and his wife Kathleen, Mercer; his former wife and best friend, Marge Stowe, Hermitage; a sister, Elizabeth Cooper, New Wilmington; two brothers, Thomas Stanton and his wife Marilyn, Wheatland; and Phillip Stanton and his wife Julia, West Middlesex; and nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Stanton.
