Robert P. Hodge of Grove City passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in his daughter’s residence in Pine Township after a three-week illness. He was 90.
Mr. Hodge was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Grove City to Paul H. Hodge and Louella Weaver Hodge.
He was a graduate of Grove City High School.
Mr. Hodge retired from the former First Seneca Bank Corp., now PNC, Butler, where he was a loan officer, having worked with the bank for 42 years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, where he was an usher for many years and belonged to the Methodist Men’s organization.
Mr. Hodge served in U.S. Army Air Force in the China-Burma-India theater during World War II and belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 518.
He was a former member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Grove City, and Grove City Lions Club. Throughout his life, Bob did a lot of volunteer work for many causes and organizations.
His wife, the former Marilyn R. Hassel, whom he married July 6, 1957, passed on Sept. 17, 1981.
Surviving are: four children, Ava Powell and her husband Steve, Aiken, S.C.; Alice Malicki and her husband John, Bloomingdale, Ill.; Julie Hodge, Hermitage; and Debra Brain and her husband Ken, Grove City; and two grandchildren, Zachariah Hodge Covert, Sharpsville; and Elizabeth Rose Covert, Hermitage.
Besides his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Roberta “Bertie” Labor; and three brothers, Richard D., Donald J. and William L. Hodge.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
