Ukrainian Orthodox church member was homemaker


---- — Marie Fedoruk of Brookfield passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 16, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a period of declining health. She was 89.

Mrs. Fedoruk was born March 19, 1924, in Ovni, Ukraine, a daughter Joseph and Melanie Trusewich.

Marie married Nicholas Fedoruk in 1944 and together they immigrated to the United States in 1948, settling in the area.

As a homemaker, she had enjoyed gardening and canning.

Marie was a longtime devoted member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sharon, where she loved helping to make delicious pierogi, which in Ukraine were known as Varenyky.    

Mrs. Fedoruk is survived by cousins, Paul M. Mandell, Mercer; and Alec Mudrak, Titusville, Fla.; and a sister in Ukraine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas, on June 6, 1980, and a brother and two sisters in Ukraine.
