Hilda M. Hobaugh of Monongahela, formerly of Ford City and Hermitage, died Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2013, in Monongahela-Valley Hospital. She was 84.
Born July 19, 1929, in Lowville, N.Y., Mrs. Hobaugh was a daughter of Guy E. and Iva May Rasmussen Curtis.
Hilda worked in the housekeeping departments of the Ford City (Armstrong) School District, the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant and the former Sheraton Hotel in Shenango Township and for numerous private families who quickly became Hilda’s friends.
She loved quilting and was known for her skills in sewing, crocheting and knitting.
An avid Penn State football fan, she attended almost every home game for the last 32 years. She was also a Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers fan.
Before moving to Monongahela, she was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage.
Surviving are: her husband of 65 years, Howard G. Hobaugh; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Susan Hobaugh, Herndon, Va.; and Douglas and Rita Hobaugh, Greenville; a daughter, with whom she made her home, Lynda Nester, Monongahela (Carroll Township); a sister, Helen and her husband Irvine Buchal, Copenhagen, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Jeremy and Amy Hobaugh; Kimberly and her husband Jacob Romigh; Shelby Nester; and Renae and her husband Nicholas Schiavo; along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Melvin, Lloyd and Richard Holt; a son-in-law, Garret Nester, who passed away May 26, 2007; and a grandson, Thomas Garret Nester.

Service: Services at 11 a.m. Friday (7-26-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. David S. Evans officiating.
Interment: Will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
