GHS, PSU grad worked for Mercer Greenhouses


---- — Carl A. Heasley of Greenville, passed away peacefully at 2:59 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, in his home after a brief illness. He was 60.

Mr. Heasley was born July 6, 1953, in Grove City to Robert C. Heasley and Ruby Iola Ashman Heasley. His mother passed away Sept. 11, 2011.

Carl was a graduate of Greenville High School class of 1971 and a 1973 alumnus of Penn State University, State College.

He was a lifetime member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Greenville.

In his youth, he was a member of DeMolay in Greenville. After college, Carl worked for many years for Mercer Greenhouses, cultivating the plants and preparing them to be shipped around the country.

For the past 17 years, he worked for Country Fair in Hempfield Township as its facility maintenance manager, having been employed there since the store opened.

Mr. Heasley is survived by: his father, Robert C. Heasley, a resident of St. Paul’s, West Salem Township; a brother, Dr. Paul Heasley and his wife Elizabeth, Clifton Park, N.Y.; a niece, Kathryn Heasley, Arlington, Mass.; and a nephew, Kevin Heasley, Bluffton, S.C.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Robert Paul Heasley.

Service: Funeral service at noon Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Sadler officiating.
