Anthony James Adamo Sr.

Air Force vet, businessman worked at Sharon Tube

---- — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday for Anthony James Adamo Sr. of Hermitage. He entered into eternal life Tuesday (7-23-13) in Hermitage with his family close by his side. He was 69.

Mr. Adamo was born April 14, 1944, in New Castle, one of five children born to Anthony and Evelyn McTaggart Adamo.

He was raised in New Castle and was a member of New Castle High School’s graduating class of 1962.

Anthony began his working career at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses including Games n Things, Central Perk & Deli, and American Hair, all in Sharon. Anthony retired from Sharon Tube Co. at the age of 62, with 27 years of service.

He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell; and attended Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.

He belonged to Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 455, New Castle; and American Legion Post 299 and the Sons of Italy Shenango Valley Lodge 875, both in Sharon.

A veteran of the Air Force, he served both here and abroad in Spain and received an honorable discharge in 1965.

His wife, whom he called his best friend, the former Virginia “Gini” Baldarelli, whom he married April 2, 1977, resides at home.

He is also survived by: his four children, Tonya; Anthony Jr. and his wife Jana; Marc-Anthony and his wife Amy; and Chérie Rae; two sisters, Barbara Gadola and Rita Galati; and two brothers, Richard Adamo and Charles Adamo; and eight grandchildren, Anthony III, Caitlin, Contessa, Aaron, Kailee, Tyler, Ava and Roman.

In his spare time, he loved to cook, dance, travel to Florida, spend time with his family and eight grandchildren, and care for his dogs, Whitie and Ginger.

His family describes him as one of the most loyal, genuine, strong and compassionate men who “told it like it was.” He was often called “Scabuocci” and “Butchie” by his close friends and family. He was a true jokester through and through.

His family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Anthony’s memory to consider Buhl Park Corp., 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148, where a memorial honoring him will be placed at a later date.
