Hallie V. Allen Shannon Brown

Nurse was member of Bethany Presbyterian

---- — Hallie V. Allen Shannon Brown, formerly of 320 W. Venango St., Mercer, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township. She was 104.

Mrs. Brown was born May 4, 1909, in Springfield Township, to George G. and Janet Blanche Donaldson Allen.

She was employed at the former Mercer County Home, where she was a registered nurse for 12è years. She was also a supervisor.

Hallie was a member since 1934 of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer.

She was a leader in the 4-H and was also involved with 4-H sewing.

Her husband, William Ernest Shannon, whom she married in 1934, died in January 1959. She then married John L. Brown in 1962; he died in 1970.

She is survived by: three daughters, Patricia, wife of Michael Mayo, London, Canada; Sandra Diane, wife of John Miller, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Mary Martha, wife of Karl Koehn, Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; three sons, William Bruce Shannon and his wife Donna, and Stanley L. Shannon and his wife Janet, all New Wilmington; and Paul Shannon and his wife Elizabeth, Scotia, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

Calling hours: 11 a.m. to time of service Tuesday (5-28-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer.

Service: Funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Vogeley, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer, officiating.

Interment: Carpenter Cemetery, Springfield Township.
