---- — Gladys Irene Shamblin, of 243 Churchill Road, Girard, Ohio, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, where she was a resident for the past three days. She was 85.

Mrs. Shamblin was born July 25, 1927 in Clay, West Virginia, a daughter of Grover Cleveland Drake and Ocie Ola Summers Drake.

She was educated and raised in West Virginia and moved to Youngstown in 1956. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.  

Her husband, Charles W. Shamblin, whom she married April 26, 1946, passed away October 10, 1995.  

Surviving are: two daughters, Cheryl S. Guthrie, Mercer; and Nancy K. Trough, Farrell; two sons, Charles W. Shamblin, Jr., Hampton, VA; and Edwin J. Shamblin, Brookfield; nine grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by a son, Dencil A.
