James Joseph Adamchick

Local store manager was kind-hearted, good man

---- — James Joseph Adamchick of Hermitage died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, in Titusville. He was 55.

Mr. Adamchick was born Oct. 3, 1957, in Sharon, a son of Joseph and Mary Belus Adamchick.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was first married to Paulette DiClaudio on Nov. 3, 1984, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon. She preceded him in death and also died unexpectedly on Oct. 22, 2009, in New Castle. Jim married Deborah Fardink Jones on April 29, 2012, in First Baptist Church, Titusville.

Jim lived most of his life in the Sharon area. He was a graduate of Brookfield High School, class of 1976.

Jim enjoyed collecting coins and belonged to a coin club. He also collected stamps, decorative ceramic liquor bottles, antique Coke bottles, collectible beer cans and ceramic beer steins.

In his younger days, he was a roadie for a local band.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 684 in Sharon, he worked bingo nights when he met his first wife Paulette, handing her a bag of chips and a love note with her soda.

He worked at Milk Barn Drive-Thru in Brookfield, which he enjoyed and which started his career in the convenience store industry. He worked at Lil’ Shopper, Dairy Mart and Country Fair stores in Ohio and western Pennsylvania for more than 30 years, and had been in store management for many years. He worked in the Country Fair in Sharon and had been managing the New Castle store for years. He was well liked by his employees and customers.

James was a self-employed respite care worker for PMH out of Pittsburgh and was certified in CPR and first-aid. He also did continuing education and training in the field and had done that type of work since 2008. He was loved by his clients.

“Jimmy” has been part of a large Italian family since he started dating his first wife when they were 16 years old. James enjoyed sightseeing and traveling, especially to see his sister Patty in Florida. He also visited his Uncle Jino DiClaudio while he was there. He enjoyed his nieces and nephews and was like a father figure to them.

“Slim Jim” then brought “Little Debbie” into our family. Their lives had only just begun. Newlyweds for only nine months, they were planning a cruise this fall for their honeymoon.

He was a kind-hearted, good man.

He is survived by: his wife Deb, Titusville; a stepson, David L. Jones and his wife Sarah, also Titusville; his father-in-law, Lyle Fardink, Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Kevin Fardink, Clymer, N.Y.; and a sister-in-law, Jane Pino and husband Orestes, Divide, Colo.
