William Lincoln Locke of 964 N. Neshannock Road, Hermitage, passed away at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 86.
Mr. Locke was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Jefferson Township to David A. Locke and Jessie Locke Locke.
He attended Hickory High School, Hermitage.
William worked as a welder at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 40 years, until his retirement in 1982.
On Aug. 5, 1946, he married Laura Jane Ellis, who resides at their home.
He was a member of Clark Trinity United Methodist Church.
William was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army as a paratrooper. William was a Purple Heart recipient and served with the 4th Infantry.
He belonged to Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF); was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404, Sharpsville; a member of Red Rose Rebekah Lodge 586, Middletown Pa.; and life member of the National Rifle Association.
William was grand secretary, past grandmaster and past grand patriarch, all of IOOF Pennsylvania, and was a Patriarch Militant, a division of IOOF.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a stamp and coin collector.
William is survived by: his loving spouse, Laura; two daughters, Linda A. and her husband Larry Kerins, Hermitage; and Lucinda J. and her husband Charles Wallace, Sharpsville; two sons, William J. Locke and his wife Carole, Greenville; and David E. Locke and his wife Tracy, Hermitage; brother, Robert S. Locke, Transfer; five grandsons, Bruce D. Kerins, Jason D. Kerins, Jeffrey A. Locke, Jon J. Locke and Nicholas D. Locke; four granddaughters, Jenny M. Miller, Stephanie M. Locke, Heather R. Wallace and Madeline G. Locke; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father, David A. Locke; mother, Jessie Locke; brother, David J. Locke; sisters, Irene M. Osborne, Maggie S. Frye and Martha Bauer; and brothers, Ronald J. Locke and Daniel J. Locke.
