Eleanor Orendi Napolitan

Sharon native, homemaker lived in Calif. for years

- — NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Eleanor Orendi Napolitan of Summerville, S.C., formerly of Sharon. She passed away peacefully of natural causes Sunday afternoon (2-9-14) in Life Care Center of Charleston, North Charleston. She was 88.

Mrs. Napolitan was born May 21, 1925, in Sharon, one of seven children born to Michael and Mary Zinz Orendi.

She was raised in Farrell and graduated from Farrell High School.

A homemaker, Eleanor was a former member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Sharpsville.

She and her family lived in Sharon until 1969, when they relocated to Milpitas and San Jose, Calif. She resided in California until 2010, at which time she moved to South Carolina to be close to her daughter.

She enjoyed cooking, especially baking bread; playing family games, such as Scrabble and Yatzee, and a good game of cards, especially rummy.

In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed sewing and making crafts.

A loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, the most endearing part of her life was her family. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her former husband, Anthony Napolitan, San Jose, Calif.; her children, Anthony Napolitan and his wife Kathi, Indio, Calif.; Susan Napolitan Kaldy, Summerville, S.C.; Ronald Napolitan, Tracy, Calif.; Robert Napolitan, Gilroy, Calif.; Rosemary Napolitan, San Jose, Calif.; Anette Napolitan Reeves and her husband Paul, San Jose; and Janice Napolitan Young and her husband Ronald, Spring, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Zinz Orendi; two brothers, Richard and Karl Orendi; and four sisters, Margaret Orendi Blazius, Elizabeth Orendi Blazius and infant sisters, Matilda and Elsie Orendi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 3695 Boardman Canfield Road, Canfield, OH 44406.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
