Margaret Mary Orr McDougall of Pine Township (Grove City) died peacefully at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. She was 85.
One of eight children, Mrs. McDougall was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Harrisville to Raymond L. and Elda M. Critchlow Orr.
On June 25, 1949, she married Keith E. McDougall in Harrisville United Methodist Church; he preceded her in death Oct. 29, 2005.
Margaret was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women’s Association; Harrisville Community Club; and The Friendly Home and Arts Club, Pine Township.
Formerly she was a member of the Pine Township Council of Republican Women, Mercer County Extension Board and Home Ec Advisory Committee in the 1970s.
She previously worked at the former Cooper-Bessemer, Grove City; Kroger’s; and Grove City schools.
Margaret was a homemaker devoted to her family and especially enjoyed her four grandchildren. She hosted and organized many family reunions and gatherings. Margaret frequently shared her homemade bread, pies and cookies with her family and many close friends.
Margaret made quilts including one for each of her children and grandchildren. With her sister, Edith, she compiled five family histories.
She enjoyed sewing weekends with her sister, nieces and friends, as well as visits to Clear Creek State Park, Jefferson County.
Margaret and Keith participated in square dancing, travel and the 4th Infantry Division Association activities.
Survivors include: a son, Edward L. McDougall and his wife Janet; and a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” J. Grande, all Grove City; four grandchildren, Jill M. McDougall, Winter Springs, Fla.; Thomas E. McDougall; Andrew C. Grande and his wife Melissa; and Whitney N. Grande, all Grove City; a sister, Edith O. McGhee and her husband Robert, Mercer; three brothers-in-law, Robert Bovard, Grove City; Clayton McDougall, Columbus, Ohio; and Lynn McDougall and his wife Felicie, Richmond, Ind.; four sisters-in-law, Marian Orr, Greenville; Ruth McDougall, Grove City; and Jean and Joyce McDougall, both Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and 26 nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mila Bovard, Lois NeSmith, Alice A. Cook and Elda Mae Hockenberry; two brothers, William P. and John R. Orr; and three nieces and a nephew.
Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Interment: Harmony Cemetery, Harrisville.
