Joanna DeCarmen

Fatima-St. Ann’s member was parole investigator

---- — Joanna DeCarmen of Transfer, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, of an extended illness, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System with her family by her side. She was 58.

Mrs. DeCarmen was born May 14, 1955, in Sharon, a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Curry Potprosky.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated in 1974 from Kennedy Christian High School, Hermitage. Following high school, she went on to obtain a two-year business degree from the former Shenango Valley School of Business.

Joanna began her career 23 years ago in the clerical department at the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole and rose to the position of investigator.

Mrs. DeCarmen was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell.

She enjoyed going to the beach and playing slot machines at the casino. Most importantly, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her husband, David A. DeCarmen, whom she married June 22, 1974; two daughters, Shawna Brady and her husband Shane, Greenville; and Dana DeCarmen and her fiancé Michael Lowers, Transfer; and four grandchildren, TJ and Jordan DeCarmen and Mackenzie Brady and Tanner Lowers. She also leaves her father- and mother-in-law, Patsy and Mary DeCarmen.

Joanna was preceded in death by her parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
