John Edward Gearhart of Mitchell Road, West Middlesex, passed away Wednesday morning, July 16, 2014, in his residence. He was 83.
John was born Feb. 15, 1931 in Jefferson Township to William Sharp and Celia Zahniser Gearhart.
He married Phyllis Jean Van Horn on Jan. 1, 1958.
John worked for the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp., Sharon. After its closing, he worked for Ivor J. Lee. He also did lawn excavating.
He was a member of Presbyterian Church of West Middlesex, Kedron Lodge 389 of West Middlesex, and New Castle Consistory. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jay and his wife Diane, Marienville, Pa.; three daughters, Judy Slater and her husband Doug, Pulaski; Jackie Creighton and her husband Thomas, New Middletown, Ohio; and Joy McCright and her husband Keith, Pulaski; one daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Munnal, Sharpsville; 11 grandchildren, seven great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; as well as sisters and a sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Munnal; a great-granddaughter, Lila Gearhart; and a sister, Lois May Gearhart.
