A funeral service will be held Thursday for Frank J. Diurba of Sharpsville. He passed away peacefully Monday morning (12-3-12) in his residence after an extended illness. He was 71.
Mr. Diurba was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Sharon, a son of George and Marie Ontko Diurba.
Frank was a lifelong area resident and attended Sharon schools.
He served during the Cuban missile crisis with the Navy aboard the USS Intrepid, an antisubmarine carrier known as the Fighting I, positioned in the Atlantic.
Mr. Diurba was employed at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant and for its successors, Caparo Steel and Duferco Steel Corp., Farrell.
He loved to drive his classic cars to local cruises and car shows, where he had many friends.
Frank was quite handy; he could fix anything and would help anyone in their time of need.
His wife, Joyce Elaine Diurba, whom he married April 23, 1966, passed away July 28, 2009.
He leaves: his two sons, Jeffrey B. Diurba, Pittsburgh; and Jason Diurba, Sharpsville; a daughter, Jennifer L. Shealy, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Samantha Winklevoss, Sabrina Diurba, Zachary Carroll; and Ava and Shea Diurba; three sisters, Angie Gerda, Mercer; Barb Seaholm and her husband Mac, Pittsburgh; and Johanna Pease, Cortland; and a brother, Thomas Masters and his wife Linda, Sharpsville.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Frances Reardon; and his brother, Richard Diurba.
