Accountant was controller at Wheatland Tube


- — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday for Gary Zajac of 984 Bechtol Drive, Sharon. He passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 29, 2014, in his home. He was 58.

Mr. Zajac was born Aug. 9, 1955, in Sharon, a son of Thomas Anthony and Dorothea Siwiecki Zajac.

He attended the former Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School and was a 1973 graduate of Kennedy Christian High School, Hermitage. Gary received his bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Thiel College, Greenville, and later passed his certified public accountant (CPA) exam.

He was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert’s Church, Farrell, and attended Grace Chapel Community Church, Hermitage.

He was employed the last three years by Wheatland Tube Co., a division of the JMC Steel Group, as a controller in the finance department. He previously worked 14 years in the same capacity at the former Wulfrath Refractory, Tarentum, and years earlier, worked for the former Perry Brothers as an accountant.

Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Jody E. Paoletta, whom he married April 26, 1975; a son, G. Jacob Zajac and his wife Annie, and two daughters, Samantha R. Zajac and Alana Zajac, all Sharon; his mother, Dorothea Zajac, Farrell; his mother-in-law, Jeannette Morreale, Hermitage; 11 grandchildren whom he adored, Kieran, Ashlyn, Isaiah, Caden, Caleigh, Alivia, Sophia, Marco, Garyn, Maddox and Drew; two sisters, Kathy Ann Paoletta and her husband Marc, Sharon; and Joanne Repas and her husband Rick, Hermitage; two brothers, Thomas A. Zajac Jr., West Middlesex; and James K. Zajac, Oakmont section of Pittsburgh; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Michael and Arlene Paoletta, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Jeanne and Frank Gentile, Glenshaw, Pa.; Bobby and Lisa Paoletta, Naples, Fla.; Judy Lutz, Warren, Ohio; Joyce and Rick Restivo, Ballwin, Mo.; Jeri Hart and Jill and Cesar Chacon, all Hermitage; and Christopher and Carol Paoletta, Sharon; and several loving nieces and nephews, cousins and godchildren, Marc Matthew Paoletta, Shauna Restivo and Josh Repas.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Anthony Zajac; his father-in-law, Marco Paoletta; and grandparents, Jacob and Victoria Zajac and Karol and Mary Siwiecki.

To know Gary was to love him and be loved by him. He was an exceptional son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He devoted his life to his family and made every single person feel special, as though they were his own. He will forever be missed.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday (6-3-14) in St. Adalbert’s Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Joseph Campbell, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
