Mary Alice Bradley

New Castle hospital retiree had many hobbies

- — Mary Alice Bradley, 83, of New Castle passed away Saturday (5-31-14) in the hospital of Jameson Health System, New Castle, after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Enon Valley, Pa., to the late William A. and Mary K. McGinnis Scott.

Mary was a 1949 graduate of the former Mount Jackson High School.

She married William E. Bradley in 1954. He preceded her in passing in 1986.

Mrs. Bradley was a dedicated employee of what was then Jameson Hospital until she retired in 1999.

She had many hobbies which included gardening, for which she had a very “green thumb”; watching and caring for her dog Micheal, her cat Annie and strays in the neighborhood; decorating for every holiday; celebrating her Irish heritage; singing sweet Adelines; and working for the Committee for Women’s Voting.

Mary was a faithful Presbyterian.

Mrs. Bradley is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Mary Christine and Jeffery Smith; Colleen Ann Burns; and Charmayne Elizabeth Bradley; six grandchildren, Jeffery Smith and his wife Amy; Nikki Dean; William Burns; Angela Bradley; Brandi Griffen and her husband Shane; and Alexandrea Bradley; four great-grandchildren, Jacob D. Smith, Lochlan Dean, Neve Dean and Shane Griffen; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; and her “adopted” children, Lois and Jim Tinstman; Sandy Galonio; and Ed Ramsey.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in passing by her two sisters, Lovella Hunt and Belle Foster; two brothers, John A. Scott and William L. Scott; and three infant grandchildren.
