Leonard E. Cimperman of Hermitage, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 7:25 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was 92.
Mr. Cimperman was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Farrell, a son of Frank and Anna Bicek Cimperman.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1940 graduate of Sharon High School.
A decorated war veteran, Leonard served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater and was a recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Area, American Area, Victory and Good Conduct medals.
His wife, the former Doris H. DeMay, whom he married July 2, 1949, passed away April 15, 2012.
Leonard retired in 1984 as a wireman from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was employed for 44 years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.
Leonard was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.
Following his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling through all of the 48 continental United States and all of Canada.
Surviving are: two daughters, Beth Davidson and her husband Doug, Euless, Texas; and Kris Reese and her husband Billy, Brookfield; three sons, Barry Cimperman and his wife Patricia, Masury; Ken Cimperman and his wife Stephanie, Hartford; and Tim Cimperman and his wife Beth, Asheville, N.C.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Cimperman, Los Angeles.
Besides his wife, Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Ed and James Cimperman; and two sisters, Marge Armellini and Rose Eastham.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
