AUSTINTOWN, Ohio —
Todd Stuart Hassel of Austintown passed away Thursday afternoon, June 12, 2014, in his home after a well-fought battle with cancer. He was 66.
Mr. Hassel was born May 30, 1948, in Sharon, a son of William P. Hassel Jr. and Shirley Hassel.
Todd was a 1966 graduate of Joseph Badger High School in Kinsman and attended Penn-Ohio Community College in Youngstown.
Todd began his career in 1969 at the Republic Steel Data Center in Warren, Ohio. During his 42-year career, he served as head of computer operations and later finished his career in Albany, N.Y., with Computer Science Corp.
Todd spent his free time as an avid golfer and classic car enthusiast, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.
Todd was an active member of Churchhill United Methodist Church, Liberty Township, Trumbull County, and McKnownville United Methodist Church in Albany.
Todd is survived by: his wife of 25 years, Patricia L. Hassel, as well as three sons, Brian Hassel and his wife Helen, Fredericktown, Ohio; Keith Miller and his wife Lucille, Newnan, Ga.; and Stuart Hassel, who is proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
He is also survived by: two grandsons, Michael and Carter Hassel; a sister, Terry Uhrin, Greenville; a niece, Sylvia Miodrag; and a nephew, Wesley Uhrin.
Todd leaves behind a legacy of principles, character, faith and love of family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
