Joseph C. Valentine Jr. of Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Tuesday (7-15-14) in Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn. He was 70.
He was born Dec. 8, 1943, in Greenville to Joseph C. Valentine Sr. and Gloria Yapuncich Valentine.
He was a 1961 graduate of St. Michael High School, Greenville, and attended Youngstown State University.
He served in the Army from 1961 to 1964.
For 36 years he was president and CEO of Lubrication Engineers Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bowling Green.
He served on the board of directors and had been a past president of the Osteopathic Hospital of Fort Worth; Merrill Lynch Insurance Services, Dallas; and Christian Athletes Foundation, Cleburne, Texas.
Joe enjoyed raising Texas longhorn cattle, had served as president of the International Texas Longhorn Association and was the founder of the Texas Longhorn Marketing Alliance.
In addition, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
On Oct. 16, 1999, he married the former Lorinda G. Beal. She survives at home.
He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, John, Richard and Thomas Valentine.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Gloria F. Valentine, West Chester, Ohio; a sister, Barbara F. Tofani, West Chester, Ohio; two nieces, Katy Turpin and Lauren Valentine; and three nephews, Matthew Valentine, Tony Valentine and Joey Valentine.
