Arverdison Hailstock Sr.

Sharon Steel retiree had been active in community


ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A funeral celebration of life service will be held Saturday for Arverdison Hailstock Sr. of St. Cloud, formerly of Farrell. Affectionately known to his family and friends as “RV” and a beloved husband and family patriarch, Mr. Hailstock took rest from his earthly labor to dwell in eternal peace on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in St. Cloud with his loving family by his side. He was 87.

Mr. Hailstock was born Oct. 1, 1926, in Farrell, a son of the Rev. Elesie Hailstock and Clara Durrah-Hailstock.

He attended Farrell High School and proudly served in both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army.

He retired from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant after 42è years of loyal service.

Prior to relocating to St. Cloud, RV was a member of Twin City Elks Lodge 187, IBPOE of W (Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World); Veterans of Foreign Wars Murray-Bell Post 7597; and Jesus Church, all Farrell.

He loved to spend time with his family and friends; his kind heart will be deeply missed.

RV’s memory will be cherished and his legacy celebrated by: his children, Sandy Hailstock, Atlanta; Carolyn Hailstock, Allentown, Pa.; Sam Hailstock, Farrell; Arverdison Hailstock Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Milwaukee; Stanley Hailstock and his wife Michele, St. Cloud; Felicia Hailstock, Milwaukee; Randy Hailstock, Pittsburgh; Shawn Hailstock, Sharon; and Traci Austin, Farrell; his brother, Rastapari “T” Hailstock, Farrell; his grandchildren, Margo Hailstock, Jamila Green, Demetria McCrary, Pamela McClain, Lamont Hailstock, Tanisha and her husband Twin Shakumba, Curtis Hailstock, Nikki and her husband Frank Conti, Tamika Pinkins, Eric Hailstock, Dayatra and her husband David Rivette, LaSarai Wilson, Courtney Hailstock, DayJoy Wilson and Janilla Hornbuckle; 32 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; godchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

RV was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58è years, Sara F. Hailstock; his parents, the Rev. Elesie Hailstock and Clara Durrah-Hailstock; his stepmother, Hazel Hailstock, who reared him; his son, Ronald Hailstock; his sister, Eunice Hailstock; and his brothers, Romason and Emanuel Hailstock.
