Services will be held Wednesday for Paul Joseph “Shakey” Schiller Sr. of Highland Road, Sharon. He passed away peacefully of natural causes at 7:33 p.m. Saturday (1-18-14) in St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, after an extended illness. He was 79.
Mr. Schiller was born June 29, 1934, in Baltimore, one of five children born to Michael and Florence Sewell Schiller.
He was a member of Farrell High School’s graduating class of 1952.
A U.S. Army veteran, Paul served for two years and was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. He also was a Pennsylvania National Guardsman for 10 years.
He retired with 40 years of service from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant. After retirement, Paul worked part time in the maintenance department at Sharon Country Club.
Through the years, he participated in many local bowling and golf leagues. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with both his son and grandson, Ryan, who preceded him in death.
Paul will mostly be remembered for his smile. He loved to dance and enjoyed a good game of cards.
His wife of 53 years, the former Beverly Hoover, survives at the residence. He also leaves: his son, Paul Joseph Schiller Jr. and his wife Mary Mooney Schiller, Burghill, and two daughters, Cara Renee Schiller Kloss and her husband David Michael Kloss, and Diana Lynne Schiller Pander and her husband Richard Pander, all South Pymatuning Township; five grandchildren, Tara Lynn Schiller Shrader and her husband Nolan, and Jessica Schiller, all Hartford; and Tori Michelle Kloss, Taylor Mae Pander and Zachery Mathew Pander, all South Pymatuning Township; two great-granddaughters, Brooke Katelyn Patrick and Caitlyn Marie Harkelrode; a great-grandson, Landon Ryan Shrader; and a brother, Michael Martin Schiller, Masury.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Marlene E. Wolford and Alice M. Brodish; a brother, Thomas M. Schiller; and his beloved grandson, Ryan Thomas Schiller.
